These works

These works in progress for each panel of the comic are all generally full page paintings that after they are scanned and manipulated will probably only end up occupying page space the size of a business card and possibly covered in text. Am I the only one that finds that funny?

Superior

Meaghan had some good advice on this one; contoured the face a bit more with shadow, adjusted the eyes again!

Another...

Another Lily's eyes haunting thing. My plan is too have a whole library of this stuff before the end, apparently... I think this one is getting closer to what I want.

The Fanboy Comics crew is in full effect at the San Diego Comic Con. Check them out, get some awesome swag from both the Something Animal film and graphic novel!

Oh no...

The layout challenges continue! Still happy with everything Something Animal, except for my output rate. But hey, what can you do?

Something Animal WIP, just a scan of the ink and paint on paper, moved around a bit, some levels, no real Photoshopping yet.

Layout decisions...

This can all be crammed into one page, it CAN!

SA Cover Idea

I plan to do a larger painting specifically for the cover but this is actually very much how I want it to look:

A slightly updated and better looking version of Jack and Lily leaving the theater that I'm more happy with:

Not dead enough...

Not sure this has the "dead" eyes I was going for. It's hard painting eyes that are sort of lifeless but at the same time looking into your soul! Lily's eyes are a very iconic part of Something Animal and I want to get them just right!

It may not

It may not look like it, but I slaved over this! I just wasn't happy with any of the sandwich-eating-Jacks I was coming up with. Ended up pretty happy with these sketches. Need to change the layout and add some haunting Lily pictures - it will all make sense...

4th of July with Meg, what an amazing weekend.
