"Outline"

Tried to write an outline for Riot District to show to a friend. At 4000+ words I realized it was a little out of hand. I also realized that I haven't even planned for 2/3 of the story at all yet.
A pretty humbling and terrifying realization to be honest.

I went from the "this is the best idea ever" stage to the "Oh Jesus Fucking Christ this is going to be a lot of work" stage just like that.

Wading back in to the Scrivener tutorial now to think about what I've done...

Off to the races.

Better-than-I-thought turn out last night and we sold a bunch of copies (we even had to open a new box at some point!). Big thanks to Emerald Knights and everyone that showed up to let me deface their copy of Something Animal. You have no idea how much I appreciate your participation in this little experiment where I try to become a professional comic artist.

Merch!

I'm on a very strict diet comprising of two core principles. 1) eat whatever the hell I want around the clock and b) drink diet soda.

Yo Rob, why aren't you wearing the Fanboy Comics T-shirt we gave you yesterday? Haha suckers.

Comics are serious business.

What can I say? Girls love comic book illustrators.

Plenty more where that came from: let's sell some comics!

SOMETHING ANIMAL - AVAILABLE NOW

I'm really proud of the work I did on this comic and I'm happy to announce that it's available to purchase now through Fanboy Comics HERE.

I hope you enjoy it.

-Rob

I'm now a published comic book artist.

Yup, you're pretty much fucked.

If I'm honest I have to say that I initially had my doubts about how Fanboy Comics was going to handle this comic. I felt like this art was my baby and to hand it off to a thieving band of gypsy bastards did not make me the slightest bit comfortable. They couldn't have proved me more wrong and clearly they are treating it as their baby too. Boy is my face red.

They have made a beautiful comic here. The print quality is truly top notch, the binding, the paper stock, it looks and feels great and it's even got that "comic book store" smell. This is a real graphic novel not some folded and stapled-together piece of shit you might expect from lesser independent comic companies. You are going to love having this on your shelf. They also have a LOT else in store (including Identity Thief, cons, digital stuff, you name it) that will knock your socks off.

What I'm trying to say is thank you Sam, Bryant and Barbra. You guys did a great fucking job.

Here are the first 3 copies of Something Animal ever (with a marketing schedule shown for scale):

First one is going to Meaghan for all her love and support. Second one is going to my Dad in Chicago so he can read it at bedtime to my niece and nephews. Third one is going on my toilet cistern in case I have guests over or I run out of toilet paper.

It will be available for you to buy tomorrow at Fanboy Comics, Emerald Knights in Burbank (where you can come from 7-9pm for the release and we'll all sign it for you), Comic Smash in Studio City and on Amazon soon!

Where are you going to put yours?
